M_Neurology
I am an MD/PhD candidate interested in how early-life injuries shapes neurodevelopment. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and attended Columbia University for my undergraduate degree. Currently, my research is focused on how oxygen deprivation at birth influences the survival and migration of newborn neurons in the subventricular zone. My aim is to combine single cell transcriptomics and primary tissue culture methods to generate mechanistic insights into neonatal brain injury. Broadly, I am interested in how genetic developmental programs specify brain structure, and how evolutionary changes in these programs give rise to human-specific cognitive traits.
