Jae Yeon Kim received her PhD degree in Brain & Cognitive Sciences from DGIST in the South Korea in 2020, working with Dr. Cheil Moon on mouse olfactory bulb interneuron development. She studied the molecular machinery that distinguishes the anatomical or functional specification of interneuron by their birth time. Jae Yeon joined the Paredes Lab as a Post doctor researcher in April 2020, doing characterization of late-migrating interneurons in human and piglet brain. Her research interests include the distinct regional development in human brain and linking it with neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Oier Pastor-Alonso got a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of the Basque Country in 2020. Using mouse models, he studied the developmental formation and establishment of adult hippocampal neural stem cells and the mechanisms guiding their response in the context of medial temporal lobe epilepsy. He joined the lab in 2021 to explore the prenatal and postnatal development of neural stem and progenitor cells in the human hippocampus. His current interests move towards the study of the human infant and adult hippocampus and plasticity changes after seizures.

Clara received her BS in Biology and MS in Modern Human Anatomy, working with Dr. Ethan Hughes on learning-related myelin plasticity in cortex in health and disease. Clara joined the Paredes Lab as a Neuroscience PhD student in 2021, studying developmental myelination in visual cortex. Her research interests include myelin plasticity and neuron-glia interactions, with a special focus on their functional ramifications during development and in adulthood.

Julia Chu received her Bachelor's degree in Molecular & Cell Biology (emphasis in Biochemistry) from UC Berkeley in 1999. She has worked in UC Berkeley with Professor Song Li focusing on cell and tissue bioengineering and Professor Jacob Corn in lab management, before joining the Paredes Lab as a Research Associate in July 2018. Her duties include lab management, overseeing safety in the lab, and participating in several brain development research projects.
